Six years at the 26mm line. Xiaojing's story.

A real follow-up record from the 6S 1.0 era, shared with the family's permission. "Xiaojing" is a pseudonym. This is one child's record, not a promise — individual results vary.

At age 8, Xiaojing's axial length already measured 26.04mm and 26.41mm — early-onset high myopia with high genetic risk. By the usual script, her eyes would have raced toward pathological myopia through her teens. Six years later, at 13, both eyes measure shorter than where she started. No miracle — just ortho-k, red light under professional monitoring, and six years of follow-through during the fastest growth years of her life.

The curve

Read this curve the right way: the victory is not the dip — it is the flat line. From age 8 to 13, a child's axial length normally keeps growing; in early-onset high myopia it often grows fast. Xiaojing's didn't.

The protocol — the strongest combination of its time

Overnight orthokeratology gave Xiaojing glasses-free days while applying optical control; low-level red light was added under professional guidance and monitoring. Ortho-k demands strict hygiene discipline — it is a commitment, not a purchase.

Era note. Xiaojing's record comes from the 6S 1.0/2.0 era. By today's 6S 3.0 standard, she would also have started with the full foundation from day one — lighting overhaul (S1), near-to-far habits (S4), and nutrition support (S6). Her result is the path taken, not the ceiling.

What this case teaches

For high myopia, braking is victory

When a child starts past 26mm, the goal is not clearing to zero — it is keeping every additional 0.1mm from happening. Each millimeter of axial growth avoided is a meaningful reduction in lifetime retinal risk.

Fluctuations are not failure

Look at the table: 2023 shows 25.61, then 2024 shows 25.77. Within roughly 0.05–0.2mm, single-visit swings are often measurement conditions, not real change. Xiaojing's family learned to treat every result as data, not a verdict — and to judge by the trend across visits.

The long game is won by routine

Six years is 2,000+ days of lens care, follow-up visits, and not giving up when a single measurement looks worse. The families who hold the line are not the ones with perfect children — they are the ones with a system.
